Just a quick note. The tornado last week in Enterprise, AL that hit the high school, that town is only 3 hours from where I live. About 45 minutes west of where I live, that same tornado destroyed a little community called Miller's Ferry, which consisted of mostly hunting camps and mobile homes on the banks of a river. Kind of a rural retirement/fishing community. A 48 year old man was killed and anyone who had property there, lost it.
And now today....my co-worker Sandy got a phone call at about 10:45 saying that a little boy had fell into the swimming pool, at the house where her little girl stays for day care. She rushed to the house, and came back with Abby about an hour later. She was very shaken up. It turns out that 2 little boys, both under 2 years of age, walked out into the back yard and fell into the pool. At this point in time, I believe both children are dead. Our little community is very shaken by this. I do know this lady will no longer be keeping children even though this was clearly a tragic accident.
We are supposed to leave tomorrow at noon to go to Shreveport and see the baby for the weekend. I have a horrible headache and sore throat and I hope they go away. Working 50 hours a week is not as easy as it used to be.
I will try to update on the children's status later on.
Please put all these people in your prayers. The mothers of these babies are young girls in their twenties. So sad. So pitiful. |

I ran the airconditioner at work yesterday because it was a balmy 75 degrees F and today it will not rise above 50 degrees F.
But thats o.k. Its gray and gloomy and cold and damp outside and I like it that way!!
Today Jaden Christopher is two months old and his mother sent me some pics so I thought I would share.
He weighs about 14 pounds now and his eyes are still blue.(His mother's eyes are blue, his father's are brown like mine)
He is starting to smile and laugh and Wendy also sent me three video clips of him trying to roll over, and playing with those toys that you kick with your feet and they make noise.
When I opened this picture you could really see how blue his eyes are. I have GOT to scan and post some baby pictures of my son to compare.
And because I am a believer in equal treatment......
Wouldn't this make a very cute icon??

I would like everyone on my friend's list to look at MY friends page for today. My daughter smiley7613 was in New Orleans and took some pictures of the Ninth Ward yesterday. Most are captioned, some speak for themselves. For those who don't know she is studying journalism and has developed quite an affinity for photography also.

Went to church this am and pm. Was going to choir practice but stopped by Claudia's on the way and ending up staying more than a few minutes.
Our church has two worship services one at 8:30 and one at 11:00 with sunday school in between. Our pastor feels our congregation may be "divided" so starting the first Sunday in February, we are going to a 9:00 worship with Sunday School to follow. We voted on it tonight and there were a few who didn't want to change. Some old folks, some our age, and a couple new families. Jim and I voted for it, because this may lead to our church growing and building a new sanctuary. Anyway, it felt great to be back in God's house. Jim and I got very slack about attending in 2006 and I am determined not to let that happen again this year.
It was hot today, I hate it. Took a nap after lunch and called Linsey. Told her we were going skiing next December with the church's youth. They went this year to Boone, NC., and had a blast. I would have went but at sign up time I ddin't know when my son and his family would be coming for Christmas. She seemed excited, and I have never ever skied in my life, so this is something to look forward to, even if it is nearly 50 weeks away.
Looking to a week filled with lots of work. I go to my Legal Enviroment of Business class Wed. night, I;m looking forward to that too.
God is good. All the time. |

So if I was upset several weeks ago and I inadvertantly wished death upon my ex husband, and today I find out he had to go to the hospital for a stress test....does that make me an attempted murderess??? |

I made my decision at 5 am this morning. I don't think I can take two day classes this semester. It would mean not getting to work until 12 two days a week and plus not getting home at night until 7 or 730, would leave me little time for my spanish study. The way the spanish classes are structured, even the night classes are two nights a week for 1 hour and 15 minutes instead of 1 class lasting 2 hours and 30 minutes.
So, I am going to take 1 class, Legal Enviroment of Business I, on Wednesday nights. I feel very good about this decision, and my co worker Bertha nearly collapsed in relief when I told her this morning. She would have to shoulder the bulk of what I do and she wasn't looking forward to it. And frankly, I am very possessive of my job, especially during tax season. I AM the number cruncher!! I AM the tax guru!! Bertha CAN do taxes and put them on the computer but she HATES to. She likes payroll and bookkeeping and that part of accounting. I enjoy the taxes. Meddling in people's finances, asking personal questions, plundering through doctor and drug bills, looking at credit card reports. You know, FUN STUFF!!!!
Anywho, I am going to do better as far as live journal goes so DON'T DELETE ME AS A FRIEND IF I DON'T POST FOR A WEEK OR TWO!! |

One more picture that I forgot to send to myself of Laura and her train that MeMe and Uncle Jim bought her. She is an absolute doll. I was playing with my phone and playing ring tones, she was sitting in my lap and I played My Maria by Brooks and Dunn. She threw her arms up and started bouncing, dancing in my lap!! So funny. And when you pick her up, she puts her arms around your neck, lays her head on your shoulder and will play with your hair.

Went back to sister's for lunch today and just to visit tonight with Christie and her family. Here are the promised pics.
 This is Christie, she was 30 in July and is a stay at home mom. She home schools her 4 year old and they just bought a new house in Christianna, TN. We plan to go visit in 3 weeks.
 This is Jason, Christie's husband holding Laura Rose. Jason is 31 and has a engineering degree from Middle Tn State University. He is in charge of the video, power points, and sound systems at Bell Aire Baptist Church in Murfreesboro, TN. He is avery strong Christian man, loving husband and father. The funny thing is all their lives, these two kids lived less than 7 miles apart and never met until someone fixed them up on a blind date in October of 1995. They got engaged July of 1997 and married in March of 1998.

 Mother wasn't feeling well today, her left knee is swollen and hurts her. My sister is taking her to the doctor tomorrow.

I watched only one or two episodes of Grey's Anatomy when it first came out and I quit watching it because I can't stand Sandra Oh the girl who plays Dr. Chang. But, I saw the ending of Season Two because all the girls at work were talking about it. I borrowed the first season from a co worker who had it on DVD and now I'm addicted! I went to the video store and rented all of season two. Although I have no sympathy for the intern in love with the married man, the sick people stories are truly unique.
My all time favorite show is Boston Legal with William Shatner and James Spader. I bought the first season for my nephew Donnie, he totally flipped out and we went down stairs and watched the first episode.

Went to my sister's last night to open presents. Will eat lunch in about an hour. Here are some pics from the festivities.  My mother's infamous 12 layer red velvet cake, with cream cheese iceing made from SCRATCH!! This is her second cake of the holiday season, the first she made last weekend for my son.
 My 29 year old niece Aprille. She is the one experiencing infertility. They moved to Gadsden in October, her husband got a job at a different church. Still no baby. Maybe this year God willing.
 This is Laura Rose, she was born 3 days after Hurricane Katrina last year. She is Christie's baby. Isn't she beautiful?
 This is Laura Rose checking out the presents. Jim and I bought her an Amazing Animal Train and she loved it. I'll take some tonight of her brother Jacob and post them later.

For all intents and purposes, Christmas is over for me. Last night my mom came over and I cooked chicken enchiladas for Linsey and she opened gifts from Jim and I, and since I bought my mother a beautiful navy blue dress for Christmas, I gave it to her so she could wear it to church tomorrow. Linsey left here at 3 today on her way to New Orleans to see Jared and tomorrow, Christmas Eve they will fly to Phenix City to see his parents for Christmas. She won't be back here to my house until after New Years Day. My son and his family have been in Goshen, AL since Monday afternoon and will be going back to LA on Christmas Day.
Linsey gave me a Shakira CD....the spanish version! She said I needed to "immerse" myself to help my Spanish studies. I listened to it going to the bank today and I really liked it. She also gave me a very cool mouse for my lap top that is smaller than most, and it changes colors!!! 7 different colors. The best gift was a card on which she had writted a very precious note.
I still have Christmas Eve with my sister and the Tennessee Taylors to look forward to and I do look very much forward to it, its just that it has been years since I spent an actual Christmas Day with my son and now Linsey is spending Christmas Eve and Christmas Day elsewhere. Sometimes I feel like all I get are the left overs. But I remind myself that Christmas is about love and family, and sacrifice when you get down to it. And you don't have to celebrate on the 25th to have a celebration.
Jim and I decided that we are going to Birmingham next weekend and spend Saturday night at the Wynfrey Hotel. We are going to a movie and to the Birmingham Zoo which has Christmas lights.
This hotel is part of the Riverchase Galleria Mall which is huge.
 Hows that for a motel room????
The restaurant has a prime rib buffet on Saturday nights and my husband will probably make them regret offering a buffet!! I'm looking forward to it. We haven't done anything together in a while that didn't involve family. We both like to read too, so we can have quiet time also.
I hope everyone has a Merry Christmas. Thanks to all my friends that comment and those who don't. My life has been enriched because of you.

Here is the outside of my humble abode. That is multi colored net lights on the deck. My sweet husband put all the lights up the week I was in Shreveport.
This is from the road going past our home, note the 8 foot inflatable penguin!! Again, these were taken with my cell phone, but I made this one bigger somehow.
Feeling much better today although my nose stays stuffy feeling and my throat is still sore. I think it is allergies from the hot weather. If yall don't mind a repeat post, I am going to go back to the pics I posted yesterday of my penguins and see if I can enlarge them.
Our Christmas party is today.
Oh, the movie. Lady in the Water. I liked it o.k., because I like anything M. Night does, but it did start kinda slow. I also rented Little Miss Sunshine, All the King's Men and Down in the Valley.
Linsey had a girlfriend come over and eat pizza and watch the movie with us and ended up spending the night. BUT, Linsey went to her cousin's house and got her chihuahua Kasper to spend the night. So it was Ashley, Linsey, a min pin, and a chihuahua all sleeping together in ONE TWIN size bed!!
Thats one thing I miss about Lin being gone, is having her friends over and spending time with them. |

O.K, I seem to be in a posting frenzy. This is the last one for today. Here are some pictures Linsey took Sunday while out at her dad's house having lunch with THAT side of the family. (don't get me started)

I don't have a Christmas tree this year...(hiss, boo, Ebeneezer) Yeah, I hear all that, I;m not deaf you know! But what I DO have is a penguin table.
Starting from the left, a white penguin that Linsey bought me this year from Michaels, the blue penguin she bought me from Cracker Barrell, it has batteries in it and lights up. Then the fat fiber optic penguin purchased from the Dollar Store. (I'm an accountant, yes I'm frugal!) Then 2 tea light penguins, the small family of four are made of glass and was purchased by Linsey for me when we went to Italy, and in the middle is a snow baby I bought myself this year. The name of it is "Mom says, Bundle Up". This is my first snow baby and our local Peebles store had them for 25% off.
This is a set of towels my mom gave me for my birthday along with a penguin pin. (I probably have 10 pins) BUT...they are all different!
This is just a FEW of my penguiins that I have sitting out on my bar. This is the "short" bar because right to the left is our entertainment center that holds our t.v. Also, these pics are small because I took them with my cell phone and then e mailed them to myself. I am still digital cameraless.
Rented M. Night Shamalyns Lady in the Water this afternoon at lunch and we are going to watch that tonight. I will report in on the movie tomorrow.
On the down side, my throat is sore, I am stiff when I get up, and I feel a headache lurking around my temples. Thank God after our party tomorrow I don't have to come back to work until January 2, so if I have anthrax or ebola or creepy crud, i should have plenty of time to get over it.
